Summer Session II 2018: Rome, Italy

Spend four weeks this coming summer in the Eternal City where you will be surrounded by Roman antiquity experiencing the social and cultural influence of the Italian capital. You may take 6 credits to apply towards your degree and academic resume with courses in archeology and classics, art history, fine arts, Italian studies, film and digital media, interdisciplinary studies, international relations and global politics, English writing, literature and publishing, communication and business administration.



Host School

The American University of Rome offers a specialized Study Abroad program highlighting art, history and culture in the marvels of Rome. The school hosts 500 students from 40 countries around the world each semester. It is the first of its kind in Italy designed to teach international higher education focusing on Liberal Arts. AUR is a private student-centered institution that follows the American university curriculum to fully integrate education from each student’s home school. An award-winning international faculty teaches accredited courses, with transferable credits, in English by a 16:1 student-faculty ratio. The study abroad program accepts students from all disciplines for the summer and fall sessions through CAP.


Students who choose AUR will live in Roman apartments, cook with authentic Italian chefs, take field trips to Tuscany, Capri and Pompeii, exercise by yoga and rowing, and join an Italian studies club. The AUR study abroad program focuses on student growth and achievement in its leadership enhanced extra-curricular activities which also offer volunteer work along with exploration activities throughout the city. The American University of Rome has strong roots Roman, Italian and European culture. The AUR study abroad experience is designed for cross-cultural understanding and interconnected education for an exponential experience.
